Donald "Donny" Strope, Jr., 52, of Hanover Township, passed into God's eternal kingdom Thursday April 2, 2026, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Donald and Judith Edwards Strope, Wilkes-Barre. He was a 1991 graduate of E.L. Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre, and attended Lincoln Technical Institute in Allentown, PA.
He was employed by Pennsylvania Power and Light Company in Scranton, Hazleton and Wilkes-Barre for twenty-five years. As a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union, Local 1600, he served as a steward.
During his lifetime he was an active member in several Wyoming Valley churches and participated in mission service trips. He followed both football and NASCAR as an avid fan. He was a beloved son, faithful husband and a loving father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ezekiel Purinton.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife and caregiver,

Strope, Scranton, Sara (Ben) Purinton, Hanover Twp., grandson, Levi Purinton, Hanover Twp., sisters, Rebecca (Darrell) Winner, San Diego, CA., Susan Strope, Wilkes-Barre, Sharon (Andrew) Kuhn, Wildwood, MO., nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Sunday June 7 2026 at 2:00 PM in the New Life Community Church, 301 Delaney St., Hanover Twp., PA.
The family thanks all who prayed for Donny during his long illness.
