Charles (Chuck) A Katcavage, Sr., 84, of Bear Creek Village, passed away peacefully Saturday March 29 2025 surrounded by his loving family at home.

Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Anthony and Anna (Maga) Katcavage. He was a 1958 graduate of Swoyersville High School and attended Wilkes College. He proudly served his country in the US Army Signal Corps, serving in the White House, the Greenbrier Bunker and Africa.
He had a 36-year career with IBM, starting in Buffalo, NY and was later transferred to Wilkes-Barre, where he retired as a field engineer.
He was very invested in his community. He was a founding member of the Bear Creek Township Volunteer Ambulance, a founding member and president of the Bear Creek Village Historical Society, a longtime member of the Bear Creek/Buck Township Lions Club, served on the Bear Creek Village Council, and was an advocate for the preservation of the Bear Creek Dam.
He also enjoyed daily walks around the lake and working on his antique cars.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Marjorie, a daughter, Kimberly Wertz and husband Deric, and a son, Charles A Katcavage Jr., and wife, Suzanne, grandchildren, Alexis and Ryan, several cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday April 3 2025 with an Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy to be celebrated at 11:00 AM in St Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church 271 Tripp Street Swoyersville, with the Rev Andrii Dumnych.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday April 2, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bear Creek Association Clubhouse, 125 White Haven Road, Bear Creek, PA 18602.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the “Bear Creek Association – Dam Fund” at luzfdn.org/donate or mailed to The Luzerne Foundation, 34 South River St. Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702 Or St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church (address above).
Arrangements were entrusted to the Daniel J. Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, Wilkes-Barre.
