Joseph M. Hartman, 74, of Larksville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

 

Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Henry and Cecelia (Anson) Hartman. 

 

He was a graduate of West Side Career and Technology Center and served his country proudly in the US Army.  Joe was a machine mechanic with Genova Products for many years until his retirement.  After retiring, he chose to continue working with his good friend Paul Chervy helping out at the coal yard.

 

He was a longtime member of the Larksville American Legion Post #655 and a truck enthusiast.  He worked on a 1951 Chevy from the frame to the total restoration of the truck.  He was always working on some kind of project. Joe enjoyed weekend rides on his quad, going to his grandson’s baseball games and relaxing on the patio with his family.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Hartman and sister-in-law Dorothy Hartman.

 

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of more than 50 years, Brenda, daughter, Mary Harkenreader and husband, Danny, a son, Joseph Hartman, grandchildren, Candice Hartman, Emily Harkenreader and Stephen Harkenreader, a brother Larry Hartman and wife June, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

A Celebration of Life for Joe will be held Sunday, March 1 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Larksville American Legion Post #655, 354 East State Street, Larksville,
