Herbert Francis Scott, 86, of Plymouth, PA, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025.

ree

Born on June 15, 1938, in Philadelphia, PA, Herbert was the son of Herbert F. Scott and Agnes Wholey Scott. After graduating high school, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served with distinction for 22 years. He retired as a decorated Chief Petty Officer. Following his military career, he furthered his education by earning an associate degree in business administration from Luzerne County Community College. He then worked in retail sales until his retirement.

In 1958, Herbert met the love of his life, Marguerite Youells, in Maryland. Together, they built a family and raised four children: Herbert, Joy, John, and Denise.

A devoted sports fan, Herbert found great joy in cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles. One of his greatest wishes was to see his beloved Eagles win another Super Bowl—a wish that came true when he witnessed their victory in Super Bowl 59.

Herbert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Marguerite Scott; a daughter, Joy DeYoung; parents, Herbert and Agnes; and siblings, James, Joseph, Kathleen, and John.

He is survived by his children, Herbert (Jule) Scott, Hunlock Creek, and Denise (Norm) Gensel, Dallas, GA, as well as his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family from the Daniel J. Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, Wilkes-Barre.
