Michael F. Ortalano

Michael F. Ortalano, 88, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday, March 12 2025, surrounded by his loving family at home.

Born in Plains Township, he was the son of Michael and Lillian (Carnevali) Ortalano.

He was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School and furthered his education, earning a bachelor’s degree from Penn State in 1968. 

He worked with CertainTeed, Mountaintop, as a production manager for many years.

Michael was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, watching Penn State Football, playing video games and his walks around the neighborhood.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael W Ortalano.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 64 years, Carol (Stahley) Ortalano, daughter, Susan Sherman and fiancé, Frank Ayson, granddaughters, Justine Sherman and companion, Mike Gibbons, and Janelle Turner and husband,  James, great-grandson, Connor and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday March 17 2025 from Daniel J. Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, 617 Carey Ave., Wilkes-Barre.

Interment will follow in Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Trucksville.

Friends may call from 2:00PM to 4:00PM Sunday at the funeral home.
