Patrick J. Patte, 87, a prominent restauranteur of the North End section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully Monday, November 3 2025 surrounded by his family in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Dupont, he was the son of the late Patrick and Anna (Clarke) Patte Sr., a graduate of Dupont High School class of 1955 and proudly served his country in the US Army.
In 1964 he opened Patte’s Sports Bar and Restaurant on West Hollenback Avenue Wilkes-Barre, where he still operates today.
An avid sports and community-minded person, Mr Patte was one of the original board members of Northeast Baseball, Inc., which was instrumental in bringing the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons to the area. He is a member of many civic groups, including being inducted into the Luzerne County Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2000, he established an annual golf tournament to benefit the American Diabetes Association in his wife’s memory, and annual car show benefiting the Wyoming Valley Challenger Baseball, bringing baseball to children with disabilities.
With his restaurant family of sports fanatics and the ‘Golden Girls’ , they started the World Famous….Patte’s Spectator Club, which traveled to numerous sporting events including attending several Superbowls, World Series Games, Indy Auto Racing, Nascar Racing, College football games, New York Car Shows, Cigar Shows and anything else they wanted to go to he would make the arrangements.
As a casino host and with his travel agency, he would arrange trips to Atlantic City, Las Vegas and the Bahamas. His trips were the ‘best bet’ in town, always a guaranteed winner!!
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Judith Patte, sisters, Dolores Mattei and Patricia Manisera, brothers in law, Robert Mattei, Dominick ‘Uncle Killer’ Manisera, Robert Fino, Carl Fino and sister-in-law, Jayne Fino.
He will be sadly missed by his sons, Christopher C Patte, Patrick J Patte III and wife Mary, and Michael Patte, sister-in-law, Joan Fino, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and restaurant family.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday November 8 2025 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St Robert Bellarmine Parish, Barney and Division Streets, Wilkes-Barre.
Entombment will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Family and friends will gather Friday November 7 2025 from 3:00PM to 6:00 PM at the Daniel J Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, 451 North Main Street Wilkes-Barre and will continue Saturday from 9:00AM until the mass at the church.
