Robert D. Tosh, 94, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully Friday, April 11 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Allied Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Leo and Nellie (Davis) Tosh. He was a graduate of E.L. Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre, and proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War, earning a Korean Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal.

 

He went to work in Nutley, New Jersey for several years before returning home to work as a machinist locally with Kanarr Manufacturing, Vulcan Iron Works, and Nicholson Steam Trap Inc., all in Wilkes-Barre.

 

He was a longtime member of the American Legion Hanover Township Post 609 and the International Brotherhood of Boilers Makers Union Local 13 for many years.

 

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, and spending time with the Forever Club, a close group of friends, he and his wife spent summers with at Lake Moc-A-Tek for more than 30 years. He was also a prolific sports enthusiast. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially Penn State and the New York Yankees.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of more than 63 years and high school sweetheart Marian, and 7 siblings.

 

He will be sadly missed by his sons, Mark Tosh, Hanover Twp.; Dave Tosh and wife Patty, Wilkes-Barre; and Robert and his wife, Beverly, Wilkes-Barre Twp.; and two grandchildren, Taylor Boshinsky and husband Dan, and Aaron Tosh, and fiancé, Mkayla Timek, a sister, Margaret ‘Peggy’ Castey. and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 16 2025, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Barney and Division Streets, Wilkes-Barre.

 

Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

 

A visitation will be held from 9 AM until the service Wednesday in the church.
