Bruce Addison Thomas II, 75, of Plymouth, Pennsylvania (previously of Cascade, IA) passed away, peacefully, in his sleep on July 9, 2025.

Bruce was born on January 23, 1950, to Bruce and Mary (Hartzell) Thomas. Bruce grew up with two sisters, Mary and Connie. As a child, Bruce loved to play in the dirt with his cars and trucks. His love for driving and the open road continued into his adult life as a truck owner-operator and transporting engineers for the railroad. Rest assured if you needed to know how to get to anywhere, Bruce could rattle you off directions without even a map. Bruce never met a stranger. He would stop and talk to everyone and was genuinely interested in what they were saying.
As a father, Bruce enjoyed taking his kids traveling. They have fond memories of driving the RV to Estes Park to camp and fish. They also got to tag along on semi-truck trips and see the nation from coast to coast. Some of them probably even learned to drive on these trips. Bruce was also fond of growing berries, which were a favorite, along with his meatloaf. He still enjoyed talking to his children regularly about work, fishing and his grandchildren.
It could be said that Bruce loved being Papa Bruce best of all. When his grandchildren were babies, he always wanted to hold them and coo at them. Little grandchildren would always burst into laughing fits if he was going to “bore a hole” because a tickle attack was on the way. As they got older, he loved to hear about everything his grandchildren were up to and as a proud grandpa he was always up for bragging about them.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Connie William.
Bruce is survived by his children: Rebecca (Jeremy) Esser, Even Thomas, Bruce Thomas, III, Jon (Stephanie) Thomas, and Gregory (Mary) Thomas, by his grandchildren: Kayla, Kegan, Skylar, Madilyn, Natalie, Audrey, Connor, Isaac, Adleigh, and Alaina, and three great-grandchildren: Peyton, Carter, Trenton. Bruce was also survived by his sister, Mary Fenstermacher.
He will truly be missed but has left us with lifelong memories and as he would say, “See you later alligator.”
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Daniel J. Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, 617 Carey Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.
