Mildred E. Harris, 108, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026. Born on January 8, 1917, Mildred lived an extraordinary life spanning more than a century, just days shy of her 109th birthday.

Mildred lived a long and meaningful life marked by faith, devotion to family, and grace. She was a woman of remarkable strength, resilience, and heart. Her long life was a testament to her enduring faith and deep love for family, which was always at the center of everything she did.
To those who knew her, she was a steady presence, a source of stories, and a reminder of what truly matters.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, David and Edith James, her beloved husband, David E. Harris, a daughter, Ellen, a son, Richard, and brothers, Ralph, William, Arthur, and David, all of whom she carried in her heart throughout her life.
Mildred leaves behind a family that spans generations and stands as her greatest legacy. She is survived by son, David J. Harris, and his wife Gwyneth, beloved granddaughters, Meagan Martinez (Joseph), Courtney Barlett (Eric), Kristy Piccolotti (Rich), and Hillary Scatena (Danny), treasured great grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Ferrara, Ethan and Carys Barlett and Gianni and Ginno Piccolotti and adored great-great-grandson, Romeo Ferrara.
Mildred will be fondly remembered for her longevity, her warmth, her strength, and the generations of family who were blessed to know her love. Her life was long, full, and beautifully lived – a true celebration worth honoring and remembering.
Funeral services will be held Friday January 9 2026 at 12:00 noon from the Daniel J. Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, 617 Carey Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.
Private interment will be in Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas.
A visitation will be held Friday from 11:00 AM until the service time at the funeral home.
