Born in Kingston, on July 10, 1963, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Sarah (Price) Konefal and was a 1981 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, Plymouth.

Debbie was a co-owner of Konefal’s Restaurant, Edwardsville until its closing in 2018. She was currently employed as a Food Service Instructor for the Department of Corrections at SCI-Dallas.

Debbie had a love for travel, but her true passion was cooking. She carried on the cherished Konefal family recipes, keeping their traditions alive. Though she always tried to share her skills with others, she inevitably took charge in the kitchen, it was, after all, her territory. Her unforgettable dishes will be deeply missed at every holiday, birthday and family gathering.

Debbie was a member of the Edwardsville Hometown Committee since 2013. She participated in many events through the years, but she especially loved the Pierogi Festival.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Konefal, and nephew, Zachary Malek.

Debbie was the beloved wife of, John ‘Pete’ Rodgers, and loving sister to Laura Warman and husband David, Mary Kay Bukeavich and husband Brian, and Sarah Malek. She was referred to by numerous nieces and nephews, as the “fun” Aunt.

Debbie had a deep love for animals, especially her cats Ethel, Walter, Inky, Dennis and Jack, whom she adored.

Debbie was a compassionate individual, her generosity was felt by all who knew her, whether through a thoughtful gesture or warm meal. She made the world a better place simply by being in it.
