Denise (Brennan) Reilly, 71, of Wyoming, passed away peacefully Thursday July 10, 2025, in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born on February 22, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Jean (Norsavage) Brennan.

Raised in Luzerne, Denise was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, class of 1972. Following high school, Denise served her country proudly in the United States Army and attended the University of South Carolina while serving.

 

In the late 1970s, Denise pursued her passion for culinary arts by establishing her own catering business. Later, she dedicated her career to serving veterans in the dietary department at the VA Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.  Denise was known for her culinary talents and the joy she brought to others through her cooking, especially during the holidays when she loved to gather with family and friends. She was always making jokes, sometimes at her own expense, just to make others laugh.

Over the last few years for pastime Denise enjoyed having lunches with her girlfriends and sitting outside with her neighbors enjoying their company.

 

Denise was preceded in death by her brother, David Brennan.

 

She leaves behind her loving daughter, Colleen Slocum and husband, Brian, Wyoming, and the light of her life, her granddaughter, Brennan, who brought immense joy and laughter into her life. She is also survived by her former husband Jimmy Reilly, several nieces, nephews, cousins and her two fur grandchildren that she loved so much Archie and Coco.

 

Denise will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother whose warmth, generosity and humor touched many lives.

 

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday August 8 2025 at 10:00AM in Holy Family Parish, 574 Bennett Street, Luzerne, PA.
