Judith “Judie” J. Martin, 75, of Hanover Township, PA passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 30, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on November 8,1949 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Josephine (Eckert) Gibbons.
She was a graduate of Coughlin High School. She attended classes at Luzerne County Community College and also earned her bachelor’s degree from Wilkes University (formerly Wilkes College) after returning to school as an adult learner to finish her remaining courses. She excelled in both tennis and basketball at the high school and collegiate levels.
She was also a U.S. Army Veteran.
Judie had a love for working with numbers and attention to detail. She had been employed at Harte Hankes, Sallie Mae and Step by Step from which she retired in 2018 after 16 years of service. She had also enjoyed doing taxes and worked part time at H&R Block for a few seasons. Judie was most recently working part time from home doing payroll for Abilities Behavioral Health.
She enjoyed watching all of the latest tv shows, reading books, doing diamond art and going to bingo with all of the senior citizens of Wilkes-Barre Twp. ladies.
Judie is survived by her loving husband, Michael with whom she recently celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary on June 27th; daughter, Lisa Jackson and her husband Michael Horsham PA; grandson, Cole Jackson, Horsham PA; brother, James Gibbons, Jr. and his wife Jan, Delaware OH; niece, Nicole Gibbons and great-nephews Patrick & Benjamin Gibbons, Powell OH, her beloved rescue dog, Willie Wonka and several cousins.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Compassus Hospice Care for their kindness and compassionate care they provided.
In keeping with Judie’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or service.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Daniel J. Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, Wilkes-Barre.
