Harriet Mayhue, 73, a lifelong resident of East End Wilkes-Barre, passed away unexpectedly Thursday April 23, 2026, at home.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Harriet (Smith) Jones and was a graduate of James M Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.
She went to work as a seamstress in the local garment industry for many years. She had also worked with Keefer’s Army Navy, Kingston, Eynon Furniture, and was a caregiver with the Institute for Human Resources, Kingston.
Harriet was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. She loved spending time at home with her family. Her resilience and determination to overcome life’s challenges was unmatched. She will be remembered as the remarkably strong woman she was every single day.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Austin Wielgosz and nephews, Keith Blake and Daniel Blake.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Brian Mayhue, Gary Mayhue, Shannon Mayhue, Darrell Mayhue, Joseph Wielgosz, Kimberly Price, Richard Mayhue, grandchildren, Cory, Justin, Jade, Cole, Bobby, Chris, Maria, Tiffany and Sarah, great grandchildren, sisters, a niece, nephews, her best friend, Ann Marie Rodriquez and her dog, Maggie.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Daniel J. Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, Wilkes-Barre. #Mayhue
